What the Live tab on VoteHer shows
TL;DR
- Where rooms come from: The Live tab shows rooms that are live on Telescope, from Telescope's public live list.
- Why it says Ad: VoteHer has a commercial relationship with Telescope, so every Telescope link is labelled Ad.
- Alerts: The bell on a profile asks the bot to message you when she goes live, and every alert has an off switch.
Where the list comes from
Telescope is a separate app with free live rooms. VoteHer reads its public list of rooms that are live and shows them on the Live tab, refreshed every minute.
A room is shown as the Telescope account it belongs to. It is not a claim that the room belongs to a creator listed in VoteHer, unless her profile in VoteHer links to it.
Why it is labelled Ad
VoteHer has a commercial relationship with Telescope. Every link to a Telescope room carries an Ad label, in the app and on this blog, and the privacy page says what the relationship is.
Getting told when she goes live
On a creator's profile, the bell asks the bot to tell you when her room opens. The bot sends at most one alert per creator every six hours, and at most five unprompted messages a day in all.
Every alert carries a button that stops alerts for that creator. The general message about who is live has its own off button, and /stop turns it off too.
If the app does not open from a link, How to open a Telegram Mini App has the fixes.
Questions
Do I need a Telescope account to watch?
Telescope's rooms open in Telescope, and its own rules apply there. VoteHer only links to them.
Will the bot message me without asking?
No. The bot writes first only after you turn alerts on, and every message carries its own off switch.
